French Onion Soupe with Braised Pork
In The Oven
- Place the oven rack in the middle position. Preheat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F).
- Heat half the oil in a large oven-safe pot over high heat. Add half the pork cubes and cook for about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside on a plate. Repeat the process with the remaining oil and pork cubes. Set aside.
- In the same pot, cook the onions and garlic gently for about 20 minutes, stirring frequently. Add the reserved meat and other ingredients, except the bread and cheese. Cover and bake for about 3 hours. Season to taste.
- Pour the soup into ramekins. Cover with bread and cheese. Finish cooking by broiling for 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
