Sausage spathetti sauce

2 to 8 hours Cook time 30 minutes Prep time 4 to 6 servings


To go faster, you can chop vegetables in a food processor.


On the stove

  1. In a saucepan, over medium-high heat, heat oil and sauté onion 5 minutes. Add vegetables and spices and continue cooking, stirring frequently, 10 minutes. Season with salt.
  2. Add sausage meat and ground pork and sauté 5 minutes.
  3. Add whole tomatoes, tomato paste, cold water (or broth), red wine and bay leaves. Bring to a boil and simmer gently for about 2 hours, stirring frequently. Season with salt and pepper. Season to taste when finished cooking.

Slow cooker

  1. This recipe can be prepared in the slow cooker as well, but do not add broth. Follow the same steps and when ready to continue cooking, transfer to slow cooker. Cook on high for 5 hours or on low for 8 hours.
