Pork & Vegetable Stew

On the stove

  1. In a large heavy-bottomed saucepan, heat oil over medium-high heat. Brown pork and onion for 3–4 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with flour while stirring and cook for 1 minute.
  2. Add the turnip, carrots, celery, and garlic. Continue cooking for 4–5 minutes, stirring frequently. Add the broth, beer, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and thyme. Season with salt and pepper. Mix and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer very gently for approximately 45 minutes or until the meat is tender. Add the peas 10 minutes before cooking is completed. Season to taste. Serve with rice.
