The Fondation Tirelire was founded in 2004 thanks to the generosity of Québec's pork producers. Intent on taking on the role of involved citizens and contributing to the well-being of their community, Québec's pork producers created the first foundation in the field of agriculture to fight against food insecurity in Québec.
Food is a part of everyday life for all humans and it has a great influence on our quality of life. The Fondation Tirelire would like to end hunger in Québec by supporting organizations that allow families and individuals in need to improve their living conditions while respecting their dignity.
From its beginnings, the Fondation Tirelire has expanded at every level. They have developed a structure, mechanism and financial activities with the goal of helping as many people in need as possible in the most effective way.

- Creation of the first edition of the Salon des vins et tentations du terroir in Saint-Hyacinthe.
- Financial contribution of close to $300 000 to over 90 organisations throughout Québec.
- Participation in the Programme de réforme des porcs reproducteurs making a donation of 300 000 kg of ground pork meat possible to Moissons Alimentaires, a Québec food bank.
- First Fondation Tirelire golf tournament.
- Development of a strategic three-year plan.
- Grant program to organizations resumes activities.
- Launch of foundation's website.
- Opening of the first office and hiring of a full-time office coordinator. Launch of our first fund-raising activity throughout Québec, the Action FERMES pour contrer la faim sweepstakes.
- Name change from Fondation des producteurs de porcs du Québec to Fondation Tirelire.
- First award given to an organisation fighting hunger in Québec.
- Preparation of a campaign in January 2005 in collaboration with the consulting firm Montminy Bédard and Associates.
- Presentation of the foundation to members of the Fédération des producteurs de porcs du Québec.
- Creation of a reference group to analyse the needs of and commonalities between the problem of food security in Québec and pork producers.
- Collaboration with the Montminy Bédard consulting team, specialists in fundraising.
- Creation of the Fondation Tirelire on August 17th 2004 under the name Fondation des producteurs de porcs du Québec with the support of the Fédération des producteurs de porcs du Québec.
- The Fédération des producteurs de porcs du Québec's decision to create a foundation.
- Examination of the possibility of associating ourselves with a social cause in order to demonstrate pork producers' commitment to the community.
